Last night we joined thousands of others to see the inner city lit up by giant structures made of light and fabric, many suspended from demolition cranes. These installations had been created by architecture and design students from around New Zealand as part of the Festival of Transitional Architecture.  Some of the photos I took of these amazing lights simply don’t do justice to the projects. Although I had a pamphlet with a map, the reality didn’t seem to be quite the same  so I may have got some of the names wrong.

It was midnight when we walked home along a block of Manchester Street that’s been off limits since 22 February 2011.
