A rattling sound outside drew my attention to this Cycle Rickshaw being unloaded.
Later we saw it by the Margaret Mahy playground complete with customers. The driver was going round in circles while he waited for a gap in the Madras Street traffic.
Good to see another enterprise adding to the character of Christchurch.

He was providing free rides for the kids as part of the official opening celebrations this weekend at Oxford Terrace Baptist Church. There were two bouncy castles inside the main auditorium, balloons and face painting too for everyone to enjoy. It was the children’s party for the opening and took place between 9 am and 12 noon. The auditorium was then reset for the official opening at 2.00 pm (with about 350 attending), and was then reset a third time for a sit-down formal celebration dinner for 150 people at 7.00 pm.
Today there is a Church service at 10.30 am, followed by a shared lunch in the old lounge. Then at 2.30 pm there is an Organ Recital by Martin Setchell on the restored organ to conclude the weekend.
He unloaded the rickshaw by your place to help keep the church car park empty for cycling around before taking the kids for a turn around the Margaret Mahy playground and back.
