Riccarton House, built by Jane Deans in 1856 is well worth a visit, and a superb venue for a wedding or other ceremony. It is owned by the City Council and has been beautifully restored since the 2011 earthquakes.
The surrounding bush Putaringamotu has native trees up to 600 years old, and many birds. A predator-proof fence was installed in 2000.
“Historic house and bush beside
are sources of great civic pride.”
