To celebrate James K Baxter’s 90th birthday on 29 June, Phantom Billstickers have been featuring his poetry on billboards around the country. This one is on the corner of Kilmore and Barbadoes Streets.
In ‘Tomcat’ Baxter uses enjambment the continuation of a sentence without pause, beyond the end of a line, couplet or stanza. This technique makes the poem more lively.
“James Baxter is most famous for
his writing and work with the poor.”
