One of the joys of leaving paid employment is having more time for friends. This week there have been two occasions where I’ve been able to spend time with someone who is likely to become a new friend. In my employed days I’d have been inclined to think that I must move on to the next task. I’ve also had time free to visit, to nurture older friendships, to move into new groups, and to accept unexpected invitations. Lots of possibilities – how did I ever find time to go to work?

they told me, and it’s proved so true.”
