Spring cleaning has never been my forte. I’ve often started, but never progressed through the whole house in an orderly fashion. I’m much more inclined to do spot cleaning as it’s required, and maybe a bit of de-cluttering now and then. This week the death of a former colleague was in the newspaper. We hadn’t met for more than twenty years, and the one strong memory I have of her is that she took two weeks’ annual leave each year to springclean her house. I was impressed, but couldn’t help wondering whether it was truly necessary.
As I now have more time available, I thought I’d better make an effort, and I’ve started by washing a pair of curtains, which are drying outside in the balmy autumn air.
I”m now about to wash down the window frame while it’s bare. We’ll see how the cleaning project progresses!
“I’ve never really been that keen
to carry out a full spring clean.”
