Kelly from City Care swept our gutters this morning. I was surprised to see her and a workmate doing this, but she told me it happens every six weeks. On a sunny day this could be a pleasant task, perhaps not so good in midwinter.
I told Kelly that I had cleared the inorganic rubbish out of the gutter the previous day and trimmed the alyssums on the side, and that I always remove any cabbage tree leaves I see in the gutter. She said because the sprayers have been round a couple of weeks before, she’s not supposed to touch anything that’s growing. No sign that spray has affected the alyssums on the edge of the gutter. I wonder about the fate of the two hollyhocks now growing through the footpath.
It’s good to know this kind of maintenance is still happening – not sure if it’s citywide. Do your gutters get a regular sweeping?
