Do you listen to The Archers?
I’ve been surprised to discover just how many people do. My main listening is BBC Woman’s Hour, and lately there have been many references to the Ambridge domestic drama. I decided to tune in, and downloaded several omnibuses (omnibi?) to my trusty MP3 player. In the early hours of Monday morning I played one, but the hour and a quarter format proved too long.
Yesterday I downloaded several separate episodes. These are just fourteen minutes, and I was hooked enough to listen to three in quick succession, including the episode where Helen stabbed Rob, which I’d already heard discussed on Woman’s Hour. I may well become a regular fan. Pam Ayres is, and she wrote this:
“Gut-wrenching scenes to make you stagger,
Helen stabbed him with a dagger
Lying in his bloodstained shirt
Rob got his pie and his dessert.”
