I was one of more than 3,000 who marched in Christchurch today to try and convince our leaders of the need for action to combat global warming. This was part of an International Weekend of Action leading up to the climate talks in Paris. It’s been years since I felt moved to make this kind of political protest, I’m cynical about the effect it may have, but it felt good to be taking some action. One young woman chalked a strong message on the pavement while we waited.
The Greens were conspicuous in the crowd and well-prepared with signs available to hold.
Mayor Lianne Dalziel spoke well about the power of people to make a change before we all moved off.
“Action’s needed now, you see
because there is no Planet B.”
