The first sweet pea flowers are out.
I haven’t grown these for years, partly because I expect annuals to self seed and previous sweet peas didn’t oblige. I bought the seeds of these from a market stall back in April, and have nurtured them through winter. I’m delighted that they’ve survived and flourished. My Yates Garden Guide tells me that more sweet peas are grown each season than any other flowering annual. Once more flowers come out I’ll be able to pick a bunch and enjoy them indoors.

so pretty, with a scent that’s sweet.”
