The first of four eight-metre towers, intended to assist people in finding their way around the central city, has gone up on the corner of Manchester and Cashel Streets. There is some controversy about the cost of these towers.
I guess they’ll be useful for visitors. I find the street signs, now restored, are enough to tell me where I am, even if I sometimes have to think hard about it. What I’d really like to see are more pictures and descriptions of what used to be there.
“The towers will help us to explore
but not say what was here before.”
