A surprising sight in Geraldine was this horse drawn cart.
The horse, which was like a small Clydesdale is a breed called Gypsy Vanner. The pair are on a trek from North Cape to Bluff, to celebrate 50 years since the Hare Krishna movement came to the west. I wondered where they would sleep, especially with rain forecast.
“It’s quite amazing who you meet
when walking down a country street.”
love it thanks Ruth… perhaps they sleep aboard>? they would have to be dressed up well for the bad weather down south, lets hope some nice farmer lets the horses roam on their land overnight..

I hope so, Adele. The way the weather’s been down here it wouldn’t be much fun sleeping in the open, even if he had a tent and sleeping bag in the wagon.

I didn’t know we had any Vanners here in NZ, what a treat to find 🙂

They’ve always had a tradition of this hospitality. I remember going to a meal in Auckland many years ago.
