The new Farmers’ Market at The Commons is wonderful! We’re absolutely delighted to now have this within a few blocks of home. Today was the first day it’s been open, and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were there to cut the ribbon.
There are dozens of stalls.
We bought celeriac, a string of garlic, venison sausages, Whitestone cheese, and pies for lunch. There was lots of other food on offer. Now that we know what’s available we’ll be going each week to buy eggs, vegetables, etc. There are craft stalls too, selling jewellery and wooden goods. Live music and a hula hoop display added to the ambience, as did the Imagination Station stall, complete with a moving Lego train and a Lego road cone. This feels as though the Arts Centre market has finally been replaced. It’s been more than four long years since we’ve had food like this available within walking distance of home. The market would be a great place to buy presents too. It’ll be there every Sunday, 9.30am to 2.30pm.
“A Farmers’ Market in our ‘hood.
It’s years since we’ve had it so good.”
