When I was a child, back in the days of the “Trades Alphabet” (who remembers that?) I joined the ‘Egg a day’ club, and proudly wore their badge.
As an adult, for many years my breakfast of choice was a boiled egg and toast. In the early 1980’s we were on holiday with a group of friends, one of whom was a G.P. and sternly told me that I should not eat an egg every day. I don’t think I took a great deal of notice then, but in recent years my weekday breakfast has tended to be porridge, and I’ve saved the eggs for weekend omelettes.
At my annual “Well Woman” check my doctor told me my level of B12 was low and I should eat more eggs – at least five a week. I’m very happy to do this, and this morning I had a boiled egg and porridge. By coincidence, today I came across an article which says that eating eggs makes you kinder. My doctor didn’t tell me that! Perhaps she thinks I couldn’t be any kinder?
“I might go back to egg a day
and grow more kindly in that way.”
My daughter was given similar advice 4 or 5 years ago – not for B12 but that eggs are such a nutrient rich food. I remember the advice on not eating too many eggs – related to cholesterol I think but that “thinking” seems to have gone out of fashion now.
Enjoy your favourite breakfasts Ruth.

I don’t know the Trades Alphabet. But I am happy to hear that eating eggs may make us kinder. I eat eggs in some form or other every day. The other day it was quiche. Today there is homemade bread with egg in the ingredients. I don’t know that I ever took much notice of the ‘don’t eat eggs/cholesterol” warnings.

I may go back to having an egg every day, and thereby become kinder. I’m not sure that eggs used in baking would count?

Well, I will always be happy to eat more when the egg mood takes me. 🙂

I suspect you will be robust in the mornings after such a comprehensive breakfast. it will carry you through the day…including being kinder because you feel replenished……..

I probably won’t be having a boiled egg and porridge very often. Maybe I’ll alternate them.

I was told by a amature health guru, that I ‘needed’ to eat the egg yolks, because I needed the biotin…Works for me
