I like this picture of a wonky house which is going up on the corner of St Asaph and Manchester Streets.
Is it a depiction of what happened in the earthquakes? There seems to be a face appearing underneath. I forward to when it’s finished.
“This house seems somewhatly surreal
and there is more to come, I feel.”
Hi Ruth
Heading into work today I noticed with dismay that this fantastic mural, and the Indian woman have now been covered up by a tilt-slab panel, one of the walls of the new building going up on the corner site. Such a pity the new building hasn’t incorporated a window to allow the mural to still be seen by people in the new building. I guess this is the fate that awaits most of the murals.

That’s a real pity, but alas, is the fate of murals in a transitional city. This one was to publicise Home and Family, the organisation which has bought the old convent building on the corner of Barbadoes and St Asaph Streets.
