This new sculpture by Regan Gentry is on the corner of High and Tuam Streets, near the old High Street Post Office. The sculpted rimu trees are made of rimu wood salvaged from homes which have been demolished becuase of the earthquakes. To fund the sculture, there was a project to raise $20,000 on pledge me which has been fully subscribed. For a donation of $150 you could have had: an A2 poster of the sculpture, beer for two at Smash Palace, carving of your and your beloved’s initials on the trees, and a packet of tree seeds, plus $5 went to Kea Conservation Trust.
The sculpture will be officially unveiled on Friday 1 August at 1pm. It looks great, don’t you think?
“A diff’rent tree has gone up here
designed to brighten and bring cheer.”
Thank you Ruth. I was hoping you would feature this new sculpture on your blog.

And how nice it was to see the sun! Did you see the report in the Press about the forthcoming piece of public art….IMAG- NE? That looks like fun.

Yes – being a Scrabble addict, I love the idea of the Scrabble pieces. It must be in the section across the road from the Peterborough Library – I shall have to walk down there and take a photo.

And I must get in to town again to see all these new developments. I saw, too, that the cathedral bells are back home, though not installed, of course.
