This installation by Julia Morison has been set up on the corner of Gloucester and Colombo Street as part of the Scape7 Public Art event. It consists of ten objects that may be seen as either trees or houses, references the swamps in pre-colonial Christchurch that supported forests of Kahikatea trees, and it’s lit up at night. “The work incorporates light and plant forms, and creates spaces within itself for reflection and play.” It will be moved when the site is required for rebuilding, but will remain in Christchurch.
“This structure’s meant to make us think
‘Twixt house and tree, what is the link?”
