All this week there’s been a drilling rig stationed outside 179 Tuam Street, beside the old Council Chambers. They’re checking the land there to see whether this old brick building can be restored or whether it will need to be demolished.
I don’t think I can bear to see any more demolitions and hope this building can be saved and re-used.
“I hope that we can safely stick
to some old buildings made of brick.”
I hear you! Sad to see the article in the Press this morning about the demolition of the Methodist Church. But, if you had time to read my latest post, you will see how excited I was that a place connected with my family history (and made of brick) is being restored.

It was very disappointing to read that the Chines Methodist Church has gone, and its spire.
Delighted to learn that a building that holds your family memories has been spared.
