An early morning meeting meant I left home at 7.30am. The street lights were still on as I walked and pondered the difference between dawn and sunrise.
Dawn is the first lightening of the sky, and sunrise is when the sun actually appears over the horizon. Morning twilight is the time in between when you can still see the stars (provided it’s not cloudy) and the sun hasn’t risen yet. Sunrise this morning was at 7.55am, and I was walking in twilight.
The street lights went out at 7.50am, just five minutes before sunrise.
Have you been out early in these cold winter mornings?
“The twilight time of every morn
comes before sunrise, after dawn.”
