With lower temperatures this week I’ve found my self hand washing winter jerseys again. I know that merinos can go through the machine, but my preference is to wash my good ones by hand, lightly spin (inside a pillow case), then dry them on a rack in the bedroom. This truly marks the change of season for me. How do the cooler temperatures affect your routines?
“I carefully wash my good jerseys
for fear machine might badly squeeze.”
I air my mattress in the autumn sun, which pours into my bedroom, and have just tried fixing my broken heater (which alas will have to be replaced).

Wool deserves hand washing because it is such a great, unbeatable, sustainable fibre. I handwash woollen garments too Ruth.
Right now as the cold creeps in more and more the lights are on more, the curtains are drawn earlier, the sun ( when it is out) comes in at very different angles with a softer, mellower light. Jazz is much keener on a warm lap or a big patch of sunshine. The slow cooker is back in service and I’ve made two lots of soup this week.
Oh and I have been a whimp in the last couple of days, as the south easterly chills the air and I’ve turned on the heat lamp in the shower room…..

Sorry to hear about the broken heater Juliet. I hope the sun keeps shining so you don’t need a replacement just yet.
OG, I’ve noticed Bentley’s having his afternoon nap on the couch rather than on the verandah. I haven’t yet needed the bathroom heater.

For me, it is lighting my wood burner regularly when I come home from work – and I have done this for the last week. I love the warm ambience that the flame and heat provide.

Carol, that sounds lovely. All you need now is a cat lying in front of the wood burner.
