The recent quake has changed the look of the Barbadoes/Kilmore Street corner irrepairably. The former Retropolitan shop had a crack near the top after the September quake. Now it’s completely shattered.
The dairy next door has also suffered severe damage, but the Deaf Association building looks okay.
Across Kilmore Street the Cupcake Parlour had moved in just three months ago. Now they’ve been forcibly moved out.
On the western side of the intersection, both Piko and the Herbal Dispensary have lost many bricks.
Where traffic used to flow down Kilmore Street it’s now given over totally to fire engines.
“A sad fate for our corner shops.
And road now kept for fire truck op’s.”
I'd love to get your thoughts about this post.
