Today we drove west into the mountains, because I had a wedding at Flock Hill Lodge. Originally I’d planned to go alone, but it had been raining continuously for 24 hours, and Stephen kindly offered to drive me. Once we got past Springfield the rain started to clear although it was still cloudy. Several of the mountains had dustings of snow on them.
The scenery is spectacular. This is Narnia – where they filmed “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and there are many rocky outcrops.
The fields which until last week were in drought mode still looked very brown, but after this recent deluge they’re bound to green up again. Flock Hill Lodge is in the Craigieburn Valley, just past Cave Stream.
and they have deer and sheep near the buildings.
On the way home we drove through thick mist around Porter’s Pass, but there was no more rain.
