The Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden and native restoration project is currently offering an opportunity to see some wonderful sculptures. There are eleven works by Llew Summers. He has lovely rounded shapes, but I sometimes find the angles of his figures disturbing.
Here are some pieces that attracted me:
The garden alone is well worth a visit, with many new native plantings, and attractive bridges across the stream.
We were delighted to find there were chooks, who had an elegant chookhouse and a chooketeria.
There was also a Fertility Goddess Garden – I’ll save those photos for a future post. The garden will be open again next weekend, 11am-3pm.
“Our visit to Tai Tapu brought
attractions of a diverse sort.”
