After a month away there’s not a lot of change to be seen in central Christchurch. Some roadworks have moved to different places, and some footpaths have been patched. This little car still clings bravely to the wall in the remains of Sol Square.
A new artwork on the wall of the Cotter’s building in High Street caught my eye.
The idea of the two images is that if you face them squarely and cross your eyes, the images will lock together and be seen as a single image – no 3D glasses needed. The artist says: “I’m creating a perfect alternative reality that you can escape into, a fantasy world. …that fits into the rebuild and building a better city.”
“A paradise that’s not quite true
for the time being will have to do.”
