A moa has appeared amid the weeds on the corner of Kilmore and Barbadoes Streets.
We saw a similar one down Woodham Road. Are they all over Christchurch? Have you seen a moa lately?
“I was surprised to see this bird
because they are extinct, I’ve heard.”

I remember some years back, about a sighting of a Moa down south and I think it was now the late Paul Holmes mentioned it and said another sighting, but was the mower variety… Nothing would surprise me what they would find down South in the bush!
Perhaps the earthquakes have shaken up some relics from the past? There is always something funny and creative going on in your city Ruth.
I’d just love to know how many more there are, and will keep an eye out for them.
What a glorious colour! Christchurch is full of surprises.
