To celebrate this season of first fruits, and contemplate what the harvest may hold, we met at St Luke’s labyrinth. The path towards the labyrinth is slowly gathering more plants- not easy with strong winds and burning hot days. The sounds of a digger, omnipresent in Christchurch these days, was almost muffled by the song of the cicadas, and to the south the Poplar Crescent was a welcome reminder that some parts of the inner city survive.
I guarded the sacred space while nine women walked… and turned… and walked… – One Step at a Time.
“As pilgrims on a road well-trod
this path can lead us close to God.”

Sounds lovely Ruth. We will be celebrating on Tuesday evening. Walking the labyrinth is such a good way to shift focus.
We will have another labyrinth in the Botanic Gardens during the Festival of Flowers, so more people will have a chance to experience such a walk.
A beautiful ritual thank you Ruth. x
What a lovely way to acknowledge Lammas. Labyrinths are a favourite way of mine to think through ‘stuff’ and although we have one here in Wellington I do not often take the time to use it.
I love them too, Carol. Perhaps you might come down and visit me and walk the St Luke’s one.
