A recent “Press” article about tokens used in the game of Monopoly prompted me to look out my 50 year old version of the game. The token I remember is a gold sailing ship, but sadly it has disappeared. The four metal tokens left (clockwise from top left) are tank, motorbike, train, and tractor.
Monopoly currently has a public vote on Facebook to decide which of the old tokens will be replaced by which new token. None of the tokens mentioned match those in my set, which were apparently replaced years ago. Which tokens to do you remember playing with?
“For many years I have not played
and now my favourite’s been mislaid.

I have a little Scotty Dog, a ship, racing car and a top hat…..
Prob from the sixties.
oh i just checked the facebook site – those were the ones we had – must have lost the iron and the thimble and the boot lol – shows where my priorities lie
Your question has prompted me to search out the old Monopoly set. It dates back to the mid 1960′s I think!
The tokens are like Fiona’s: a boot which was never popular to play with, a frigate ( much preferred by my brothers), an iron ( ho hum), a Top hat, a racing car (also sought after by males) and a cute Scottie dog( tears if the dog loving brother did not get this token)!!!
The pieces are also made from different materials to your ones Ruth, being 3D rather than flat with a plate to stand on.
I think mine would date from 1959-60, and must have just pre-dated the ones you two have.
