Mosaics have been set into the footpath beside the temporary central bus station.
They are made from pieces of china broken in the earthquakes and are an attractive memorial.
I hope we will see more of these mosaics as footpaths get repaired.
“For those who lost their precious china
no memorial could be finer.”

How innovative. I never cease to be surprised by the resourcefulness of people.
What creative and hopeful recycling.
Isn’t it great? Many people are using broken china in creative ways, jewellery as well as mosaics.
These are lovely and will be enduring to enjoy. Simple but colourful and evocative.
I do hope we’re going to see more of them before long.
