The outgoing tide had formed pools and left patterns in the beach.
The holes where sand-dwelling creatures breathe were covered over.
A lagoon had formed, safe for children to play in. Some people were planning to fish.
If you have a small child, a boogie board, and other paraphernalia to take to the beach, a wheel barrow can be the ideal transport.
“A weekend morning at the beach
brings lots of fun within our reach.

These images speak to me of summer and the summer has been warm and as usual variable for this time of the year. At the moment we have driving rain and wind with humidity
We’ve had incredibly warm days. Not so variable here – or at least, not yet.
My children would play “drip candles” in those pools left by the tide. They would allow the very wet sand to drip through their hands into a narrow pile that looked like a candle and often stood for a good while.
The water is often deliciously warm in those pools too as I recall.
Yes, the water was warm. Your mention of candles reminds me that a friend told me today that some candles in her house had melted in the hot sun over the weekend.
Your temperatures have been very high lately Ruth so I could imagine candles melting. We have such high humidity that I notice my lipstick is very soft. Perhaps I should keep it in the fridge.
Lovely patterns, like jewellery.
