My birthday yesterday was full of treats. Stephen cooked a lovely breakfast which we ate outside where it was 24 degrees. Skype calls from daughters meant that they could watch me opening their presents. Although the weather forecast was dubious we went to Corsair Bay where I enjoyed frolicking and floating in the water.
As we headed home the rain started, and I felt sorry for those who’d just been settling in with picnics on the beach. A friend came for afternoon tea, the rain cleared, and we played dominoes and chatted. Later we went to Bailies Bar and Restaurant for a very pleasant meal and social time, then home to watch a DVD of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Facebook ensured that I had lots of good wishes from friends, and these combined with e-mails, phone calls, and presents made me feel surrounded with love. Thank you everyone for making it a special day. There are advantages to having a birthday that’s always a public holiday, with plenty of opportunities for fun and relaxation.

Carol, good to hear you’ve been holidaying with friends. Enjoy the cat-sitting and have a wonderful birthday. xxx
Many Happy Returns of your special day Ruth. I love Corsair Bay and usually make a habit of going there on new Years Day. Didn’t get there this time, but still might sneak down for a dip. Hope the water was warm.
Fantail, the water was warm and wonderful. I haven’t forgotten about the possibility of our organising a group trip.
