5 March is the date I started this blog six years ago. In that time I’ve written 1,756 posts and you, dear readers, have left 1,684 comments (96%). My next blog goal is to have my total number of comments exceed the toal number of posts. You could help here. Getting comments is what I find most satisfying about blog writing, and I’m grateful to those who comment regularly, Thank you, Juliet, Lynley (OG), Fiona, David, Cat, and Miraz.
So far, for 2012 my daily average number of visits is 93. Can I keep that up? Only if you keep visiting.
(with apologies to AA Milne)
“When blog was one, we had just begun.
When blog was two, it was nearly new.
When blog was three, it was still quite wee.
When blog was four, who could have forsaw
That when blog was five, an earthquake we’d survive?
And now we are six, I may well endeavour
To continue to blog on for ever and ever.”
I’ve been one of your stealthy readers, but I think I have finally managed to join the WordPress thing. Your posts have been wonderful, and have brought much joy and sorrow and understanding.
Well done Ruth! I so enjoy your blog as a commentary on our city. You keep me informed and up to date. Hugs
Lynne, I’m glad to know you’ve emerged from the stealth. Thanks to you and Sue for your encouraging comments.
Congratulations Ruth, and I’m glad my comments have been encouraging. I find the same on my blog. What an achievement! I spoke to an old school friend from Christchurch in the weekend and he was telling me about the loss of his house in the earthquakes, and I was pleased to be so well informed – thanks to your blog.
May you turn seven
And enter blog heaven!
Juliet, there’s no doubt that having earthquakes has increased my blog’s popularity. It’s an ill wind…….
I read all your posts – often on Google Reader so I am not sure if it gets counted in stats? I guess the fact I am subscribed does though!
Always nice to read your opinions – particularly life here post quake. Shared experiences always bring people together and this one makes me more aware of the impact the quakes had and still have on real people, living here and sharing their opinions, fears, hopes….
Heres to many more blog years
Fi, I also enjoy reading your blog, and agree that being able to share quake experiences is a great comfort.
Congratulations. That is a lot of blogposts and comments. I started nearly 7 years ago but didn’t post as much.
Love the poem :0)
Marja, I had a lot of incentive, with overseas travel at the beginning. Now, daily posting has become a habit (possibly an addiction).
Well done Ruth. That is quite an achievement. Blogging is a fascinating phenomenon and one I really enjoy in its reciprocity.
I look forward to more posts from you.
Congratulations! I just discovered your blog through Ordinarygood.
I have one year of blogging. You are an inspiration for six year s of blogging
Six years! Wow…. can you keep it up for another six? I do hope so!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I certainly hope to keep blogging, and I hope you’ll keep commenting.
Hi Ruth.
I have read your blog regularly since the earthquakes started. With the nzherald site, it has been my main source of Christchurch information, and I have recommended it to some other Green Party members here.
My blog only averages about 2 visitors per day. It has fewer posts than yours and no nice pictures like the one of Bentley with the bear. Its main aim is explaining the economy to myself, but as you may remember, I also like trying to explain things to anyone else who is interested!
Alison, it’s lovely to hear from you after so many years. I’m afraid the truth is that most people are more interested in frivolous things than in the economy. I do sometimes think nostalgically of our Auckland discussions, and wonder where all those people are now. Very best wishes to you in all your endeavours. x x x
