“Unveiled” is an exhibition at Te Papa of wedding outfits and accessories from the 19th century through to the present day. Most are on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum, and some exquisite garments are displayed. Accompanying the exhibition is a film show of old newsreel films of society weddings, from Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, through to Kate and Wills’ wedding last year. It was fascinating to see some of the dresses included in the exhibition shown on film as they were originally worn. New Zealand outfits were on display also, including a pair of suits worn for a Civil Union.
