Yesterday a friend and I had lunch at Oscar’s. Again the place was deserted – just one other couple there. Sadly, the food was not up to the standard of my previous visit. I had fish and chips and the chips were fine, but the serving not generous. The fish batter was uninviting, and the whole meal very ordinary. My friend had a burger and chips of similar quality. We noticed that the chef this time was female where it had previously been a man. Maybe the different chef accounted for the difference in quality. As I walked by today I noticed a sign outside saying ‘Chef wanted’, so perhaps it’s taking some time for them to get their staffing sorted. I have a breakfast date there in a few weeks’ time, which might be their last chance to prove themselves.
