Ruth's Reflections

Hello World

Filed under: Everyday Stuff — realruth @ 12:22 am

This is the first day of the rest of my Blog.  My daughter Cathryn suggested a couple of weeks ago I start a Blog as a diary of my planned trip to London.  She’s had a Blog since the beginning of the year, and I love the way it enables me to keep in touch with what she’s doing even though she’s thousands of miles away.  I’m not sure whether my friends will be as interested in what I’m doing, but some may be.

Although I have responsibility for two websites, one personal and one for work, my level of technical expertise is not high.  However I’m good at asking for assistance from friends, colleagues, and daughters, and some of them are technically very ept.  My Blogging will hopefully increase my knowledge.  (I’m tempted to write “and yours, dear reader”, but I don’t want to put you off this early).

I note that some Bloggers write screeds each day, and others keep their posts short.  I gather that it’s good etiquette to sort one’s posts into different categories, so I need to think about headings I could use.  I have some concerns about anonymity.  Two of my most treasured values are openness and honesty, so in some ways I’d like to put my full name and contact details, but I think I’ll be cautious to begin with, and just see how things go.

  1. My dear faraway same name friend: So nice of you to send me your blog address. I’m delighted about your travels. My daughters also live far from me. Not as far as yours but too far to see them frequently.
I just returned from two weeks in Tanzania. It was a perfectly lovely trip and may be the last long trip I will take. I did manage to keep up with the others and enjoy myself immensely.
I am still lliving at Milagro, A Community in Balance with Nature, and do so like being here.
Sending you best wishes and great travels.
    Ruth
